The Intersection of Artificial and Human Intelligence
Section Information
The Journal of Intelligence is pleased to announce a new section dedicated to exploring the dynamic boundaries where artificial intelligence (AI) intersects with human intelligence. This section invites original research that treats AI not just as a tool, but as a lens to decode the mechanisms of the human mind. We seek submissions that leverage computational models to reverse-engineer cognitive processes, offering fresh insights into how human intelligence functions. Additionally, we welcome papers exploring how machine learning, natural language processing, and adaptive algorithms can innovate psychometrics, introducing new methodologies to measure and benchmark biological intellect. Finally, this forum will examine collaborative intelligence (hybrid human–AI systems), investigating how AI tools can be deployed to enhance, scale, and apply human problem-solving capabilities in real-world contexts. Crucially, all submissions must address the necessary ethical guardrails, algorithmic bias, and privacy protections inherent in using AI to evaluate, influence, or augment human cognition. Please note that: this section does not accept papers focused solely on machine learning performance, engineering optimizations, or AI application development unless they explicitly inform, model, or measure human cognitive processes.
To lead this initiative, the journal is officially issuing a call for guest editors to shape upcoming special issues. By bridging computer science with cognitive psychology, this section aims to establish a rigorous, interdisciplinary forum for understanding how technology transforms—and illuminates—the very nature of human intellect.
