Generative AI: Emerging Trends and Future Directions in Legislation and Applications
This special issue belongs to the section "Artificial Intelligence".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is rapidly transforming sectors such as healthcare, education, finance, law, industry, media and public administration. Advances in large language models, multimodal AI and autonomous agents are enabling new capabilities in content generation, decision support and automation while simultaneously raising important legal, ethical and regulatory challenges.
This Special Issue aims to bring together research on the technological advances and legislative landscape of generative AI, with particular emphasis on real-world applications. We welcome contributions addressing novel AI models, explainability, robustness, trustworthy AI and application-driven research, alongside studies on AI legislation, governance, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, privacy and the implications of emerging legal frameworks, including the European AI Act. Interdisciplinary contributions bridging computer science, law, public policy and AI applications are especially encouraged. This Special Issue seeks to promote responsible innovation by exploring how technological advances in generative AI can be aligned with evolving legal, ethical and regulatory requirements to enable trustworthy and human-centered AI systems.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Information is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
