Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The increasing use of text processing and machine learning classification tools is constantly growing, especially concerning social and environmental problems. Many research fields have shown interest in using text classification to solve problems related, for instance, to climate change, politics, mental health, and public policy issues, among others. Additionally, the exploitation of social media data is becoming an essential data source for analyzing many of the social and relevant problems of our current society. Text processing and machine learning tools with the social media data source could bring a compelling methodology to explore many problems. This new approach, more prevalent today, allows many research areas to test their hypotheses and explore new solutions to problems that were not able to be solved with more classical approaches. Additionally, this approach opens the opportunity to work on more multidisciplinary research, taking advantage of all the expertise gained from many studies to build better solutions.
This Special Issue is looking for papers addressing the most critical social problems using machine learning and social media tools to innovate their methodological solutions, especially those combining a high academic standard coupled with a practical focus on providing innovative and multidisciplinary solutions.
