Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

It is known that certain environmental factors, such as economic, social and cultural backgrounds, may influence the individuals’ health. Past research has indicated inequalities in health(care), with disparities related to people’s race, class, and gender. Nevertheless, the field is missing further research about the complex psychological processes that better explain the abovementioned relationships. Accordingly, we are interested in papers analyzing how psychosocial processes, such as classism, dehumanization and acculturation, may contribute to explain, or predict inequalities in health, and, particularly, how psychosocial processes may account for individual’s access to health services, their therapeutic adherence behaviors, the quality of their relationships with health professionals and the individuals’ adaptation to chronic diseases. Considering the complexity of the proposed topics, we value the triangulation of methodologies or mixed-methods approaches, in terms of data collection and/or analysis. We will also be accepting reviews with systematic approaches (e.g., scoping review, meta-analysis).
