Fulfilling the Objectives and Goals of Sustainable Development, 2030 Agenda: Hunger and Food Security, Health, Sustainable Education, Economic Growth, and Climate Change

Dear Colleagues,

The environment is a determining factor in the well-being and health of individuals, and when it is toxic or unbalanced, this has negative impacts. Air and soil pollution, imminent climate change, the destruction of healthy ecosystems with the loss of biodiversity, and the creation of ideal ecosystems for new microorganisms, such as the SARS-COVID-2 virus, among other factors, are reducing the quality of life and increasing mortality rates worldwide. Diverse sectors, including health care systems, have a significant impact on the environment, generating a considerable climate footprint. These negative human behaviors have provoked an increase in the Earth’s temperature that has led to global warming of 1.5 ºC and will lead to the formation an environment that cannot sustain life.

Despite this increase and risk for human society, the environmental awareness of the ecological problems caused by this climate crisis and its impact on global health has been growing globally, being translated into new policies and educational paradigms, and being promoted by the United Nations and World Health Organization via recommendations, such as Agenda 2020-2030. This current Special Issue focuses on investigations with the main objectives of determining, controlling, or providing further knowledge regarding sustainability and the procedures, policies, or interventions to achieve it in different systems. 

The list of possible topics includes (but is not limited to):

• Health care systems and workers and their role in sustainability;
• Administration and policies management;
• Education for the integration of Sustainable Declaration Goals (SDGs);
• Environmentally sustainable systems from educational institutions to primary care; 
• Interventions and new protocols to control global health in climate change.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
