Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With economic and population growth, a changing disease spectrum, and advances in science as well as technology, the demand for healthcare services is growing. Pharmacoeconomics began to develop as an emerging discipline in the 1980s, and one of the most important purposes of its study is to promote rational drug use. To assess the cost and effectiveness of drug therapy and to design rational clinical pharmacological monitoring programs, health scientists have invoked the principles as well as methods of economics and analytical techniques to assess the demand and supply of healthcare, such that limited healthcare resources can be maximized. Pharmacoeconomic analyses are an important tool for addressing the issue of drug accessibility and are the scientific basis for improving the quality of life of patients on the principle of value-based medical care.

This Special Issue is intended to serve as a platform to provide new scientific evidence on pharmacoeconomic analyses. It combines knowledge of economics and pharmacotherapy with a focus on academic topics such as health insurance, medical innovations, health policy, and health system reform, and is dedicated to exploring ways to improve health outcomes while reducing healthcare costs and maximizing the use of society's healthcare resources.
