Innovations in Sustainable Horticultural Cropping and Postharvest Systems

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Improvements in sustainable horticultural systems to achieve food and nutrient security for the growing global populace are crucial. The growing need for fresh products and the advocates for environmental stewardship place increasing pressure on the necessity to rethink our systems of growing horticultural crops. Sustainability in horticulture involves a number of dimensions, from the implementation of conservation-oriented organic practices during produce cultivation, and the organic handling and storage in eco-friendly postharvest systems. Such practices are critical in achieving a lower ecological footprint and improving resource utilization on all levels of the supply chain.

The primary aim of this Special Issue “Innovations in Sustainable Horticultural Cropping and Postharvest Systems” is to gather high-quality research articles that make a significant contribution to the development of novel sustainable technologies in this research field. We welcome articles on innovative technology, organic fertilizers, growing media, propagation methods, cultivation, harvesting, and postharvest handling of horticultural crops that include modern containers, intelligent packaging, and storage systems. Additionally, we are interested in articles that adopt an environmentally responsible approach and substantially diminished reliance on chemical inputs.
