Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In the digital era, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education is transforming teaching and learning practices, and AI-driven technologies, such as large language models, personalized learning platforms, and virtual reality, are not only enhancing learning experiences but also contributing to the sustainability of educational practices. These technologies provide adaptive and flexible learning environments, making education more accessible and effective across diverse contexts.
Flipped learning, project-based learning, and AI-powered tools foster a student-centered approach, encouraging engagement with real-world tasks and promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills. As AI tools continue to evolve, they offer personalized learning experiences, helping learners to regulate their learning and fostering greater self-direction. Additionally, AI facilitates intercultural exchange by creating virtual environments where students can immerse themselves in various cultural contexts, enhancing their global understanding.
Incorporating AI-driven tools into education also empowers educators to create content-integrated learning experiences that bridge the gap between disciplines, promoting a more holistic education. Teachers can leverage AI to scaffold learning, support self-regulation, and create diverse and engaging learning opportunities that meet the unique needs of students.
This Special Issue invites studies that explore the intersection of AI and sustainability in education, focusing on the following topics:
- AI-driven innovations in education;
- Sustainable education through AI-powered tools;
- AI’s role in enhancing intercultural understanding and global awareness;
- Technology adoption in education for sustainable learning;
- Self-regulated learning with AI support;
- Scaffolding education with AI technologies;
- Promoting literacy and lifelong learning with AI;
- Opportunities and challenges of AI in sustaining education and fostering global communication.
