Alternative Feed Resources and Nutritional Strategies for Small Ruminants
This special issue belongs to the section "Dairy Animal Nutrition and Welfare".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Nutrition is a key determinant of the efficiency, profitability, and sustainability of small ruminant production systems. Rising costs of conventional feeds, fluctuations in their availability, and the growing demand for more efficient and sustainable production systems have encouraged the exploration of alternative feed resources and the development of novel nutritional strategies.
This Special Issue aims to bring together recent research and innovative advances in alternative feed resources and nutritional strategies for sheep and goats. Particular attention will be given to novel feed ingredients, forages, protein and energy sources, agro-industrial by-products and co-products, feed additives, and nutritional strategies designed to optimise nutrient utilisation, feed efficiency, animal health and performance, product quality, and production sustainability.
We welcome original research articles and reviews, including in vitro and in vivo studies, that provide new knowledge and contribute to the advancement of small ruminant nutrition and feeding.
