Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Asymmetric catalysis has emerged as a pivotal area of research, playing a fundamental role in various scientific and industrial domains. The proposed Special Issue, titled ‘Advances in Asymmetric Catalysis: Mechanisms and Applications’, aims to explore the latest developments and cutting-edge research in this dynamic field.
The significance of asymmetric catalysis lies in its ability to selectively produce enantiomerically pure compounds, which are crucial in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and materials science. Enantiomers can exhibit distinct biological activities, and the synthesis of single enantiomers can lead to more effective drugs with fewer side effects. In agrochemicals, enantiopure compounds can have enhanced efficacy and reduced environmental impact.
The exploration of reaction mechanisms in asymmetric catalysis is essential for understanding the factors that govern enantioselectivity. This knowledge enables the rational design of new catalysts and reaction systems, leading to improved catalytic performance. Mechanistic studies can also provide insights into the activation of substrates and the role of catalysts in promoting asymmetric transformations.
The applications of asymmetric catalysis span a wide range of chemical reactions, including hydrogenation, oxidation, and cycloaddition reactions. These reactions are used to synthesize a variety of valuable compounds, such as chiral building blocks, natural products, agrochemicals, fine chemicals, and functional materials. The development of new catalytic systems and reaction conditions is essential for expanding the scope of asymmetric catalysis and addressing the challenges associated with the synthesis of complex molecules.
In this Special Issue, we invite contributions that cover a broad range of topics related to asymmetric catalysis, including mechanistic studies, catalyst design, and applications in various fields. We encourage submissions of original research articles, reviews, and perspectives that showcase the latest advancements in this exciting area of research.
We believe that this Special Issue will serve as a platform for researchers to share their findings and insights, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas. By highlighting the importance of asymmetric catalysis, we hope to inspire further research and innovation in this field, leading to the development of new technologies and applications that will have a significant impact on society.
We look forward to receiving your contributions and making this Special Issue a success.
Sincerely,
Qingle Zeng

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Catalysts is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
