Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue is a continuation of our previous Special Issue, “Clinical Research on the Relationship Between Diet and Cancer Development” (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/cancers/special_issues/61628W55W7).

This Special Issue aims to collect human studies or reviews focusing on dietary components in relation to cancer prevention or the inhibition of cancer development and progression. It is already well-known that the risk of developing cancer can be significantly reduced, by 40%, with an appropriate lifestyle, including diet. Obesity and metabolic syndrome are both related to improper or deficient dietary patterns, which have been shown to increase the chance of developing tumors. It is also known that appropriate dietary components such as vitamins (i.e., B and D), essential amino acids and minerals (Zn, Mg, Co, and Mn), polysaccharides, polyphenols, sterols, and terpenes—with or without antioxidant properties—can reduce chronic inflammation and/or disturbances in lipid and glucose homeostasis, which are all connected to cancer development.

We aim to publish studies that discuss the relationship between dietary components and metabolic changes, potentially explaining their beneficial effects on cancer prevention and reduction of cancer formation/ development, as well as potentially increasing patient survival.
