Climate Change and Building Energy Demand: Impacts and Adaptation Strategies
This special issue belongs to the section "Building Energy, Physics, Environment, and Systems".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The welcomed increase in living standards in all developed and developing countries generates a significant impact on the environment due to the high energy demand necessary to meet the set living comfort criteria.
It is estimated that the next step in civil and building engineering will be the mitigation of the negative effects that urban and suburban building networks have on the surrounding air quality while also achieving economical optimisation of the energy consumption employed to achieve adequate interior comfort levels.
In this context, MDPI is launching a Special Issue, "Climate Change and Building Energy Demand: Impacts and Adaptation Strategies", covering important scientific aspects concerning energy management in civil engineering and building systems, in order to contribute to an overall cleaner environment in urban and suburban areas.
This Special Issue addresses how climate change reshapes building energy demand and explores strategies to adapt buildings and energy systems accordingly. Accepted papers will be published in the prestigious open access Journal “Buildings”, Impact Factor: 3.1.
Therefore, we welcome you to join our effort in gathering high quality scientific works that will boost visibility in the intended impact of the Special Issue on the current state of knowledge in the field.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Buildings is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
