2011	Buildings was launched. The inaugural issue was released. Buildings was published as a quarterly journal.
2015	Buildings was indexed in Scopus (Elsevier), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).
2016	Buildings was indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) — Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).
2017	Buildings announced the first edition of the Travel Award.
2018	Buildings adopted a monthly publication schedule. The Twitter account for Buildings was created. Buildings announced the second edition of the Travel Award.
2019	Buildings announced the third edition of the Travel Award. Buildings announced the first edition of the Best Paper Award.
2020	Buildings was indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) — Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), starting with Volume 8 (Issue 1). Buildings became an affiliated journal of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (CIB). Buildings announced the first edition of the Young Investigator Award. Buildings published its 1,000th paper. Buildings announced the second edition of the Best Paper Award.
2021	The year 2021 marked the 10th Anniversary of Buildings. Buildings received its first Impact Factor (2.648), ranked 61/137 (Q2) in "Engineering, Civil", ranked 32/67 (Q2) in "Construction & Building Technology". Buildings established the following sections: Building Structures; Building Materials, and Repair & Renovation; Building Energy, Physics, Environment, and Systems; Architectural Design, Urban Science, and Real Estate; Construction Management, and Computers & Digitization.
2022	Buildings received its 2021 Impact Factor (3.324), ranked 58/138 (Q2) in "Engineering, Civil", ranked 28/68 (Q2) in "Construction & Building Technology".
2023	Buildings received its 2022 Impact Factor (3.8), ranked 46/139 (Q2) in "Engineering, Civil", ranked 23/68 (Q2) in "Construction & Building Technology". Buildings organized The 1st International Online Conference on Buildings (IOC BD2023).
2024	Buildings received its 2023 Impact Factor (3.1), ranked 51/181 (Q2) in "Engineering, Civil", ranked 28/91 (Q2) in "Construction & Building Technology". Buildings was indexed in Ei Compendex (Elsevier).
2025	Buildings adopted a semimonthly publication schedule.
