Neuropathic Pain: From Physiopathology to Improvements in Diagnosis and Management

Neuropathic pain is a complex condition caused by damage or dysfunction in the somatosensory nervous system. Despite progress in neuroscience, its mechanisms remain poorly understood, and current treatments often provide limited relief. This Special Issue intends to bridge basic and clinical research by highlighting recent advances in understanding, diagnosing, and managing neuropathic pain.

We welcome contributions exploring the neurobiological mechanisms, including molecular pathways, neuroinflammation, and sensitization processes, and studies identifying novel biomarkers and diagnostic tools. Papers on innovative pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments, personalized medicine approaches, and clinical trial data are also encouraged.

We invite researchers and clinicians to submit original research articles, reviews, and clinical studies that contribute to a comprehensive understanding of neuropathic pain and its management. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses exploring evidence-based treatments or underlying mechanisms of neuropathic pain are also welcome. Join us in advancing the field by sharing your insights and research in this crucial scientific discussion.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Brain Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
