Computational and Mathematical Methods in Engineering and Information Science

Dear Colleagues,

The scope of this Special Issue covers computational and mathematical methods in engineering, information science, and their applications. Additionally, it includes intelligent systems research and focuses on the safety, trust, privacy, and security of augmented human technologies. Computational methods are the interface between applied mathematics, statistics, information science, and engineering. It focuses on analytically intractable problems of classical and quantum computations. Many of the most exciting phenomena involve specific quantum effects and entanglement, such as quantum phase transitions, spin fractionalization, and topological order. It is clear then that researchers in these areas share an interest in developing techniques using computational and mathematical methods to quantify, analyze, and understand recent applications in the more complicated systems. Over the past several years, very fruitful interactions between researchers in computational methods, information science, quantum information, and statistical mechanics have already taken place, and we expect this activity to continue and to intensify over the next years.

This Special Issue is devoted to considering original research articles, as well as review articles on computational and mathematical methods in engineering, information science, and their applications. We require gathering relevant contributions addressed to introduce new techniques for study complex systems driven by computational methods. Contributions are expected to provide new insights by combining new models with uncertainty and computational techniques. Interdisciplinary applications are particularly welcome. More precisely, we will select the best contributions dealing with significant cutting edge advances in the realm of computational statistics methods in information sciences and engineering and their applications. We will place particular emphasis on information science problems that contain engineering insights and consider stochastic approaches in their treatment.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
