Sustainability in the Mechanism and Prevention of Coal-Rock Dynamic Disaster and Rock Engineering, 2nd Edition
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
There are numerous deep-underground projects worldwide, such as deep coal mining, deep-buried tunnel construction, and underground laboratories. As depth increases, the stress distribution, fracture networks, and fluid–solid interactions around deep-underground coal and rock structures become more complex. Ensuring the safety, stability, and sustainability of deep underground engineering presents a growing challenge for both researchers and engineers, with a particular emphasis on preventing and controlling coal–rock dynamic disasters.
During the development of deep underground engineering, maintaining the safety, stability and sustainability of coal and rock masses is the primary concern. This Special Issue aims to foster greater attention and discussion surrounding the mechanisms of coal–rock dynamic disasters and the sustainability of prevention strategies in rock engineering.
The goal of this research topic is to provide researchers with a platform for comprehensive scientific and technological discussions on sustainable approaches to understanding and preventing coal–rock dynamic disasters.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- coal and rock dynamic disaster;
- sustainable coal and rock disaster prevention and control;
- coal and rock instability mechanism;
- coal and rock fluid-solid interaction;
- coal and rock fluid flow characteristics;
- sustainable experimental coal and rock testing;
- disaster evolution process and mechanism;
- risk identification and evaluation;
- sustainable monitoring and early warning.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
