Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce a Special Issue of Applied Sciences focusing on the latest advancements in medical image analysis. As Guest Editors, we invite researchers and professionals from academia and industry to contribute their original research, reviews, and perspectives to this interdisciplinary field.
Medical image analysis plays a pivotal role in modern healthcare, facilitating the early detection of disease, treatment planning, and patient monitoring. With the rapid evolution of imaging technologies such as MRI, CT, PET, and ultrasound, there is a growing demand for innovative computational methods that are able to extract meaningful information from these images.
This Special Issue aims to showcase innovative research and advancements in medical image analysis via the publication of studies on the following topics:
- Machine Learning and Deep Learning Approaches: Novel algorithms and techniques leveraging machine learning and deep learning for image segmentation, classification, registration, and reconstruction.
- Image Registration and Fusion: Methods for aligning and integrating multimodal medical images to enhance diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making.
- Image Segmentation and Feature Extraction: Techniques for partitioning medical images into meaningful regions and extracting quantitative features for disease characterization and prognosis.
- Computer-Aided Diagnosis: Systems and algorithms supporting clinicians in the interpretation of medical images, assisting in the diagnosis of various diseases and conditions.
- Image-Guided Interventions: Innovations in image-guided procedures, navigation systems, and augmented reality for precise surgical planning and execution.
- Quantitative Imaging Biomarkers: The development and validation of imaging biomarkers for disease diagnosis, treatment response assessment, and therapeutic monitoring.
We welcome submissions that demonstrate theoretical advancements, practical applications, and translational research in medical image analysis. Manuscripts should present original contributions that present significantly advancements and have the potential to impact clinical practice or the delivery of healthcare.
Submissions can be made through the Applied Sciences online submission system, adhering to the journal's guidelines.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
