Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This special issue aims to provide a platform for disseminating research on recent advancements and emerging applications of Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technologies in Earth surface observations.

In recent years, the GPS and GNSS have undergone remarkable advancements, profoundly enhancing the field of Earth surface observations. These innovations have revolutionized the way we observe and analyze the Earth's surface, offering unprecedented accuracy and versatility. The impact has been transformative across various domains, including geodesy, environmental monitoring, urban planning, and disaster management. The integration of cutting-edge GPS/GNSS technologies allows for more precise and comprehensive measurements, offering critical insights into dynamic Earth processes and human activities. As GPS and GNSS systems continue to evolve, they unlock new possibilities for real-time, high-precision monitoring and analysis of the Earth's surface. This special issue seeks to highlight pioneering developments that push the boundaries of current capabilities and address critical challenges in the field.

We invite submissions of innovative research that explores new technologies, methodologies, and applications of GPS/GNSS systems for Earth surface observations, monitoring, and analysis. We welcome original research articles that address the latest technologies and applications, leveraging GPS/GNSS systems to advance Earth surface monitoring and analysis. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Advanced GPS/GNSS Sensor Technologies
  • Innovative Advanced GPS/GNSS Instrumentation
  • Advanced Data Processing and Algorithms
  • Geodetic and Geophysical Applications
  • Environmental Monitoring and Management
  • Urban and Infrastructure Monitoring
  • Algorithm Development
  • Data Fusion and Analysis
  • Integration of GPS/GNSS with Other Remote Sensing Technologies
  • Robustness and Resilience Performance
  • Future Directions and Emerging Technologies

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
