Challenges and Applications of Radiation Detectors
This special issue belongs to the section "Applied Physics General".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue is dedicated to presenting state-of-the-art progress in radiation detection science and technology. Radiation detectors serve as indispensable tools in high-energy physics, nuclear engineering, medical imaging, environmental monitoring, aerospace exploration, and homeland security. Despite remarkable advancements, researchers and engineers continue to face persistent challenges, including improving energy resolution, enhancing radiation hardness, achieving high-temperature and high-stability operation, reducing noise interference, developing novel sensitive materials, and realizing low-cost miniaturized systems. This Issue aims to collect high-quality original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and short communications that address these technical bottlenecks and explore frontier applications. By integrating innovative detector designs, advanced materials, and practical engineering solutions, we seek to promote interdisciplinary cooperation and accelerate the translation of laboratory achievements into real-world applications.
On behalf of the editorial team, we extend our warmest greetings to all scholars, scientists, engineers, and professionals in the field of radiation detection worldwide. We sincerely invite you to contribute your latest research findings, insightful reviews, and application-oriented studies to this Special Issue. Your valuable work will greatly enrich the academic connotation and industrial reference value of this publication. We also express our sincere gratitude to all readers for their continuous attention and support. We hope this Special Issue will serve as an important platform for academic exchange, inspire new ideas, and jointly push forward the development of radiation detection technology.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
