Biomedical Applications of Raman Spectroscopy

Dear Colleagues,

Raman spectroscopy has shown great potential as a tool for biomedical applications. Due to its non-invasive nature and high chemical specificity, conventional Raman spectroscopy and its different modalities have been employed to address various biomedical issues over the last few decades. Those include cancer screening, pathogen identification, body fluid analysis, early disease diagnosis, drug analysis and many more.

In this Special Issue we aim to highlight significant advances in Raman applications addressing various biomedical issues. We particularly encourage multidisciplinary contributions and invite manuscript submissions including (but not limited to) applications of Raman spectroscopy in:

• In vivo and ex vivo disease diagnosis.
• Cell culture and cell culture media analysis.
• Manufacturing and analysis of biopharmaceuticals (i.e. drug formulations).
• Studies involving optical tissue phantoms.
• Biomedically-relevant materials and polymers.

We also welcome contributions on technological advancements of various Raman spectroscopy variants (resonance Raman, coherent Raman scattering techniques (CRS), deep Raman (SORS) and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS)) with applications in the biomedical field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
