Dear Colleagues,
Recently, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have attracted the interest of the medical and pharmaceutical sector as potential alternatives for traditional antibiotics. AMPs have a wide range of applications and a broad spectrum of activity (they can be effective against fungi and viruses, and selectively against cancer cells). AMPs are synthesized by all living organisms (bacteria, plants, and animals), but can also be chemically synthesized. By chemical synthesis, sequence modifications can be inserted to improve stability, bioavailability, and biocompatibility, as well as pharmacological activity.
