Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Periodontal health is essential for systemic health, and recent advancements have improved prevention and treatment strategies. Mini-invasive and modern approaches such as ozone therapy, laser treatment, probiotics, and proactive therapy contribute to better patient compliance, maintenance and outcomes.

Ozone therapy seems highly effective due to its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and healing properties, helping to reduce bacteria and promote tissue repair. Probiotics play a crucial role in balancing the oral microbiota, reducing inflammation, and improving gum health. Proactive therapy emphasizes early intervention, personalized care, oral health and regular assessments to prevent disease progression.

While, nowadays, peri-implant maintenance focuses on proper cleaning techniques and patient education to prevent peri-implantitis. Electrolytic cleaning offers a non-invasive method for biofilm removal, enhancing periodontal and implant care. Additionally, advancements in oral home care, such as improved electric toothbrushes and AI-driven hygiene coaching, ensure better compliance and hygiene practices even in children, special needs patients and pregnant women.

These developments significantly enhance periodontal health by providing effective, customized and minimally invasive solutions for oral care prevention and periodontal treatment.
