From Functional Genes to Precision Breeding: Advances in Sheep and Goat Genetics

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue falls under the "Animal Genetics and Genomics" section of the journal, Animals. Sheep and goats are important livestock species with significant economic and resource value, utilized for mutton, wool, cashmere and dairy production. A deeper understanding of the molecular regulatory mechanisms controlling their important economic traits and the identification of key functional genes are crucial for advancing genetic improvement and industry upgrading in these species. This Special Issue welcomes original research articles and reviews covering various aspects of genetic breeding in sheep and goats, including but not limited to genomics and other omics studies, functional gene validation, gene editing, biotechnology research, and breeding applications.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Animals is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
