Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue aims to provide an international forum for researchers, academics, and practitioners to present their latest theoretical advances, algorithmic designs, and practical applications addressing complex computational problems across the science and engineering domains. With the rapid growth of data-driven technologies, intelligent systems, and high-performance computing platforms, the role of advanced algorithms has become increasingly critical in ensuring efficiency, robustness, scalability, and reliability.
In recent years, algorithmic research has evolved significantly, driven by advances in numerical analysis, optimization, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and domain-specific applications. Modern algorithms are expected to not only achieve high performance but also to operate under constraints such as limited resources, uncertainty, security requirements, and real-time decision-making, challenges which demand innovative algorithmic frameworks that bridge theoretical rigor with practical applicability.
The primary goal of this Special Issue is to consolidate and disseminate state-of-the-art research on the development, analysis, and application of advanced and intelligent algorithms, while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange. Both foundational contributions and application-oriented studies are welcome, particularly those demonstrating clear performance gains, novel methodologies, or meaningful real-world impact.
We encourage the submission of original, high-quality research articles and review papers that address algorithmic challenges in contemporary computational systems. Topics of interest for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Design and analysis of algorithms for numerical analysis and scientific computing;
- Optimization algorithms for large-scale and high-dimensional problems;
- Machine learning and deep learning algorithms;
- Intelligent and adaptive algorithmic systems;
- Data-driven and hybrid algorithmic frameworks;
- Algorithms for cybersecurity, intrusion detection, and anomaly detection;
- Blockchain and distributed ledger algorithms;
- Algorithms for real-time and embedded systems;
- Computational intelligence in engineering and industrial applications;
- Biomedical and healthcare-related algorithmic methods;
- Algorithms for smart systems, IoT, and cyber–physical systems;
- Performance evaluation, benchmarking, and validation of algorithms;
- Scalable, robust, and energy-efficient algorithmic solutions;
- Interdisciplinary applications of advanced algorithms.
We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions and fostering a fruitful exchange of ideas on algorithms within the research community. Please do not hesitate to contact the Guest Editor(s) for further information.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Algorithms is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1800 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
