MDPI’s Journal Cluster of Network and Communications Technology

Network and communications technology are pivotal for modern connectivity and information exchange. Research in this field is diverse and multidisciplinary, from small-scale data transfer via local area networks to global satellite telecommunications. Networking hardware and software protocols are constantly evolving; thus, there is a strong need to keep up to date with contemporary research advances in the field.

MDPI’s cluster of network and communications technology is dedicated to advancing scholarly dialogue and research dissemination in the fields of network, telecommunications, internet technology, and signal research. MDPI's coverage of networking research began in 2009 with the journal Future Internet (IF 3.6), closely followed by the Journal of Sensor and Actuator Networks (IF 4.2). To cater to the burgeoning growth and specialization of the field, four more journals were launched.

The six participating journals include the following:

Network (ISSN: 2673-8732) focuses on all topics of interest involved in the networks area, including the control and analysis of networks, the design of protocols and architectures of networks, network security and service management, the design of network components, and interdisciplinary aspects of networks. IoT (ISSN: 2624-831X) focuses on technologies, architecture, applications, services, security, and practical issues in the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT is led by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Amiya Nayak (University of Ottawa, Canada);
Future Internet (ISSN: 1999-5903) focuses on the general areas of computer networking/communications and information systems, concentrating on the Internet of Things, big data and augmented intelligence, smart systems (in terms of technologies, architectures, and applications), network virtualization, edge/fog computing, and cybersecurity. Future Internet is led by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Gianluigi Ferrari (University of Parma, Italy);
Telecom (ISSN: 2673-4001) focuses on all areas of telecommunications, including systems and network architecture, communication systems components design, network management, protocols, software and middleware, security, softwarization, internet, quality of service, uses cases, and business impact. Telecom is led by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Sotirios K. Goudos (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece);
Signals (ISSN: 2624-6120) focuses on theories, algorithms and methods in signal processing, statistical signal processing, machine learning for signal processing, adaptive filters and signal enhancement, image and video processing, signal processing for communication systems, signal processing in speech, acoustics and music, biomedical applications of signal processing, radar, lidar and sonar, etc. Signals is led by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Santiago Marco (University of Barcelona, Spain);
Journal of Sensor and Actuator Networks (JSAN, ISSN: 2224-2708) focuses on Industry 4.0 and embedded wireless sensor/actuator systems, wireless sensor/actuator networks (WSANs) for tactile Internet, blockchain technology and its applications in WSANs, next-generation networks (5G/6G), Internet-of-Things-based WSANs, and the application of WSANs in agriculture, transportation, mobile systems, smart cities, smart manufacturing, smart health, etc. JSAN is led by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Lei Shu (Nanjing Agricultural University, China; University of Lincoln, UK).
