Cover Story: The 16th International Workshop on Advanced Infrared Technology and Applications (AITA 2021) was held online on 26–28 October 2021. The conference was focused on advanced technology and materials, smart and fiber-optic sensors, thermofluid dynamics and energy, biomedical applications, environmental monitoring, aerospace and industrial applications, nanophotonics and nanotechnologies, etc. All 33 conference proceedings and 2 Editorials are included in the volume.
