Cover Story: Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) hold great promise for targeting triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), an aggressive and treatment-resistant cancer type. The efficacy of AgNPs depends on well-defined physicochemical properties and surface functionality. This study explores AgNPs’ structure, function, and toxicity, focusing on cellular uptake and selective cytotoxicity. We synthesized amine, mercaptohexanol, and bifunctional AgNPs via a solvent-assisted method and conducted a comparative analysis. The well-characterized AgNPs achieved high yield and surface coverage, with amine-capped AgNPs selectively targeting TNBC cells (MCF7, MDA-MB-231) at 40 µg/mL, sparing normal MCF10A cells. These findings underscore the potential of functionalized AgNPs as a targeted TNBC therapy, paving the way for future clinical applications. View this paper
