Cover Story: Exosomes, small extracellular vesicles, play a crucial role in intercellular communication. Cancer cell-derived exosomes exhibit tumorigenic properties, modulating the tumor microenvironment and promoting metastatic signaling in distant cells. This study aims to decipher the molecular profile and interactome of lung adenocarcinoma A549 cell-derived exosomes using multi-omics and bioinformatics approaches. We isolated and characterized exosomes from A549 cells, and through high-throughput proteomic and miRNA profiling, identified key molecules and their roles in recipient cell physiology. Comparative miRNA profiling with normal lung fibroblast (MRC-5) exosomes revealed tumor-associated miRNAs with potential further exploration, advancing our understanding of exosomal molecular components.
