AI-Enabled Operation and Control of Modern Power and Energy Systems
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
Under the guidance of the “dual carbon” goals and the construction of new power systems, a high proportion of renewable energy integration, source, network, and storage multi-faceted interaction, and cross-regional energy coordination and coupling have become core characteristics of modern power and energy systems. Traditional operation and control methods are no longer sufficient to meet the evolving needs of clean, efficient, intelligent, and resilient power and energy systems. As a core technology of the new generation of information technology, artificial intelligence, with its data-driven capabilities in sensing, prediction, optimization, and decision-making, it provides crucial technological support for addressing the complexities of energy systems and driving the energy revolution.
Despite its potential, artificial intelligence still faces numerous limitations in its application to modern power and energy systems, such as focusing on single-scenario applications, insufficient in-depth research on cross-domain collaborative optimization and mechanism–data fusion modelling, and challenges in practical implementation including data governance and security, lack of algorithm interpretability, and insufficient robustness in extreme scenarios.
The primary goal of this Topic is to foster interdisciplinary dialogue that generates actionable insights for designing and implementing resilient, sustainable, and technologically innovative power and energy systems. In addition, we aim to jointly promote the innovative application and deep integration of artificial intelligence technology in the power and energy system, supporting the high-quality development of the energy industry and the achievement of the “dual carbon” goals.
