Therapeutic Immune Modulation: Mechanisms, Technologies and Clinical Applications
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
The immune system is central to tissue homeostasis and host defense, while its dysregulation underlies a wide range of diseases, including cancer, autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, infections, and complications of transplantation and tissue injury. Therapeutic immune modulation seeks to selectively regulate immune responses to restore physiological balance, strengthen protective immunity, or limit excessive inflammation and immune-mediated damage.
Advances in immunology, molecular biology, biotechnology, and nanomedicine have driven the development of increasingly refined immunomodulatory strategies, spanning biological agents, cytokine- and chemokine-based therapies, immune checkpoint modulation, cell-based therapies, extracellular vesicles, biomaterial- and nanotechnology-based delivery systems, and approaches targeting specific immune cell populations and pathways. Growing insight into immune cell–tissue interactions and regulatory mechanisms is further enabling precision and personalized therapeutic approaches.
This Topic focuses on the mechanisms, technologies, and clinical applications of therapeutic immune modulation across diverse disease contexts. We welcome original research, reviews, and other contributions on immune regulation and dysregulation, immune cell plasticity, inflammatory pathways, immune–tissue crosstalk, cell- and vesicle-based therapies, and nanotechnology-enabled immunomodulation for cancer, autoimmune disease, infection, transplantation, and tissue regeneration.
We invite researchers across immunology, biotechnology, nanomedicine, and clinical sciences to contribute, bridging mechanistic and translational perspectives.
