Intelligent Mobility and Sustainable Automotive Technologies, 2nd Edition

Dear Colleagues,

Following the successful completion of the first volume of the Special Issue “Intelligent Mobility and Sustainable Automotive Technologies”, this second edition aims to build upon the strong scientific foundation established and to further explore emerging trends and future directions in the automotive field.

The Automotive Mobility, Management and Automation (AMMA 2025) Congress—organized by the Romanian Society of Automotive Engineers (SIAR) and hosted by the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania—has demonstrated the growing importance of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing the challenges of next-generation mobility systems. This second edition extends the scope of the first volume by emphasizing cutting-edge developments, disruptive technologies, and forward-looking research directions shaping the future of the automotive industry.

In addition to the core topics addressed in the first edition, this Special Issue particularly encourages contributions in emerging areas such as:

• Artificial intelligence and machine learning in automotive applications;
• Software-defined vehicles and advanced vehicle architectures;
• Autonomous driving, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and human–machine interaction;
• Digital twins, virtual validation, and model-based systems engineering;
• Hydrogen-based mobility and advanced alternative fuels;
• Smart cities, integrated mobility systems, and Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS);
• Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication and connected mobility;
• Cybersecurity and data-driven automotive systems;
• Sustainable mobility, circular economy, and lifecycle engineering.

Equally, this Special Issue continues to welcome original research papers and review articles covering:

• Advanced engineering, software, and simulation;
• Cyber–physical systems in automotive applications;
• Green vehicle solutions;
• Hybrid and electric vehicles;
• Manufacturing technologies and materials;
• Powertrain and propulsion;
• Road safety, traffic management, and transportation engineering.

The objective of this second edition is to provide a forward-looking perspective on the evolution of automotive technologies, with a strong emphasis on innovation, digitalization, and sustainability. Contributions that bridge theoretical research and industrial applications, as well as those addressing future mobility ecosystems, are particularly encouraged.

By consolidating the achievements of the first edition and expanding towards emerging research domains, this Special Issue aims to contribute to shaping the next generation of intelligent, connected, and sustainable mobility systems

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
