Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are ubiquitous pollutants in both outdoor and indoor environments, originating from a wide array of industrial processes, vehicle emissions, and consumer products. With modern populations spending the majority of their time indoors, exposure to indoor VOCs released from building materials, furnishings, and household activities poses a significant health concern. A growing body of evidence has linked VOC exposure to a spectrum of adverse health outcomes, including respiratory diseases, cardiovascular impairments, and neurological disorders. This Special Issue invites original research and review articles that advance the understanding of VOC exposure and its impacts on human health. We welcome contributions spanning epidemiological investigations, toxicological studies, exposure assessment research, and investigations into underlying biological mechanisms. Studies focusing on health risks in specific microenvironments (e.g., residences, offices, schools) or among susceptible populations are highly encouraged. The aim of this Special Issue is to provide a platform for cutting-edge research that informs risk assessment and public health policies aimed at reducing the health burden attributable to VOCs.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Toxics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
