Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With the continuous enhancement of remote sensing data acquisition capabilities, especially the development of high-resolution airborne and spaceborne sensors, the means with which to accurately analyze surface dynamics from massive volumes of remote sensing images has become a frontier hotspot and core challenge in the field of remote sensing science. In order to perform the change analysis of multi-temporal remote sensing images, it is necessary to comprehensively use key technologies such as image segmentation, target association and re-identification, change detection, and image or change description. This is of vital scientific significance and meets urgent application requirements for understanding the interaction between human activities and the natural environment, thereby supporting sustainable development decisions.

This Special Issue aims to jointly explore and promote new theories, methods and technologies for multi-temporal change analysis based on remote sensing images. Our analysis follows a 'pixel–target–semantic' framework, covering high-precision image segmentation at the bottom level, cross-temporal target association and re-identification at the middle level, and change detection and semantic description at the high level. We welcome the submission of papers covering theoretical approaches and applied techniques, as well as contributions on new and advanced methods in relevant remote sensing data scenarios.

Articles may address, but are not limited, to the following topics:

  • Image segmentation of airborne/spaceborne remote sensing images;
  • Cross-temporal remote sensing image target association and re-identification;
  • Remote sensing image description;
  • Change detection and description;
  • Multi-source/multi-modal data change analysis;
  • Application of complex scene change analysis.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
