Dear Colleagues,
The science and engineering of gas–solid, liquid–solid, and solid–solid processes—which can involve high-temperature reactions with oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, water vapor, molten sulfates, chlorides, carbonates, vanadates, fluorides, etc.—have remarkably evolved over the past 50-60 years. Numerous symposia and colloquia have been held on this subject, which have been vwidely attended by researchers from all over the world. One of the many factors that advances our understanding of the field is the creation and evolution of new, sophisticated instruments and techniques that allow for a better analysis of scale compositions and structures.
The numerous details of high-temperature corrosion (HTC) have led to thousands of publications over the years and to the writing of several books on the subject. Moreover, early studies suffered from a lack of extensive data on various metals and alloys, the absence of appropriate experimental equipment, and an emphasis on materials that were important to the field for which the research was written.
This Special Issue will cover the most recent advances in HTC, namely:
- Oxidation, sulfidation, nitridation, molten salts, molten metals, fuel-ash corrosion, and H2S/H2;
- Fundamental studies of material–gas processes related to diffusion in HTC oxidation and sulphidation;
- Corrosion of high-temperature fuel cells;
- Corrosion of nuclear power plants;
- Fundamental science and engineering of HTC, in a balanced way so that it would spark the interest of an academic researcher, PhD student or engineer in the industry.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Reactions is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
