Announcements

Surgery is a multidisciplinary field and a core pillar of modern healthcare, continually evolving through technological innovation. Recent breakthroughs in robotic and computer-assisted surgery, artificial intelligence, digital health technologies, advanced imaging, and personalized surgical approaches are transforming how procedures are planned, performed and monitored. These advances reduce invasiveness, accelerate recovery and expand treatment possibilities for patients worldwide.

MDPI’s journal cluster of surgery has a mission to publish the latest developments across the surgical spectrum, from fundamental research and technological innovation to clinical applications and outcomes studies. By connecting journals that address diverse surgical disciplines, MDPI’s journal cluster of surgery will promote the exchange of knowledge, multidisciplinary collaborations and the dissemination of impactful discoveries.

The 12 participating journals include:

• Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM, ISSN 2077-0383)—Focuses on clinical and pre-clinical research. • Reports — Clinical Practice and Surgical Cases (ISSN 2571-841X)—Focuses on medical reports such as case reports, articles, and reviews related to the elucidation of human diseases. Reports is led by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Toshio Hattori (Emeritus Professor, International Research Institute of Disaster Science, Tohoku University, Miyagi, Japan);
• Surgeries (ISSN 2673-4095)—Focuses on studies related to original theoretical, clinical, and experimental research and advances in all fields of surgery. • Clinics and Practice (ISSN 2039-7283)—Focuses on patients, procedures, and treatments with a particular emphasis on the clinical aspects. Clinics and Practice is led by Editor-in-Chief Dr. Athanassios A. Kyrgidis (Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Aristotle University, Thessaloniki, Greece);
• European Burn Journal (ISSN 2673-1991)—Focuses on publishing the latest scientific developments in burn care and burn prevention. Apart from traditional areas of burn care and burn research, other topics also covered by the journal include wound care, scar treatment and wound healing, and regenerative medicine, as well as preclinical and experimental research, including molecular, cellular, and animal studies. European Burn Journal is led by Editors-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Naiem Moiemen (University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham, UK) and Prof. Dr. Peter M. Vogt (Department Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Medizinsche Hochschule Hannover, Hannover, Germany). It is the official journal of the European Burns Association (EBA);
• Complications (ISSN 2813-4966)—Focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, etiology, and management of complications in basic, translational, and clinical research, as well as epidemiology. Complications is led by Editor-in-Chief Dr. Giovanni E. Cacciamani (Institute of Urology, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, USA);
• Osteology (ISSN 2673-4036)—Focuses on bone-related diseases and their molecular mechanisms, biological and physiological research on bone, interactions of bone with other organ systems, bone biomaterials, as well as methodological advances in osteology. • Transplantology (ISSN 2673-3943)—Focuses on all aspects of transplantation research and clinical practice, including solid organ and tissue transplantation, immunology and immunosuppression, transplant surgery, donor and recipient management, organ preservation, regenerative medicine, complications after transplantation, long-term outcomes, as well as patient care. Transplantology is led by Editor-in-Chief Maurizio Salvadori (Department of Transplantation—Renal Unit, Careggi University Hospital, Florence, Italy);
• Anesthesia Research (ISSN 2813-5806)—Focuses on all aspects of research on Anesthesiology, including anesthesia physiology, medical physics, pharmacology, invasive and non-invasive organ support techniques used in the field, related patient care and patient education methods, lay communication, public health outcomes, and results of surgical and invasive procedures. Anesthesia Research is led by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Bruce D. Spiess (Departments of Anesthesiology, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA);
• Emergency Care and Medicine (ISSN 2813-7914)—Focuses on advancements and developments in emergency medical services, emergency medicine, acute internal medicine, and acute care surgery practice, theory, nursing, training, and education. Emergency Care and Medicine is led by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Raimundas Lunevicius (Department of General Surgery, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool, UK);
• Journal of Aesthetic Medicine (ISSN 3042-6774)—Focuses on research improving aesthetics through dermatology, plastic surgery, and cosmetic procedures and a combination of all three.
