Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Nanomedicine and nano-delivery systems are a relatively novel but rapidly developing science, where materials in the nanoscale range are employed to serve as diagnostic tools or to deliver therapeutic agents to specific targeted sites in a controlled manner, due to their increased bioavailability and propensity to prolong a drug's therapeutic action at its target location. In addition, nanoparticles offer several benefits in biomedical and environmental applications. Nanotechnology application is vital in the field of drug delivery not only to reduce the toxic side effects of nanoparticles (NP), but for its high specificity towards the target site and requirement of minimal concentrations of the conjugated nanomedicine or drug. NPs play a key role, and can conjugate with various drugs by different methods to deliver drugs to the target site. We invite leading research groups from different nano fields to provide original research articles and reviews that cover the application of biologically synthesized nanomaterials in biomedical applications, such as anti-microbial and anti-cancer effects and environmental applications. Overall, the current Special Issue reports the diverse nature of nanoparticles, their characterization and many novel nanotechnologies and engineering materials, which pave the way for various biomedical and pharmacological applications. This interdisciplinary report builds a bridge between fundamental material and technology innovation and clinical translation, greatly benefiting the fields of nanotechnology, bioengineering, and pharmaceutical applications.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
