Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Nanoparticles have unique, size-dependent properties, leading to numerous applications in various branches of industry. The possibility to design the properties of nanoparticles for a particular application, by controlling the synthesis conditions, makes these nanomaterials very interesting for medicine, pharmacology, electrochemistry, optics, sensorics, etc. The application of nanoparticles is associated with the design of specific nanostructures, which can be used as novel, high-selective materials. There are a lot of synthesis methods and applications of noble metal nanoparticles; however, there is no doubt that studies on the synthesis and applications of noble metal nanoparticles are multidisciplinary and involve many complex phenomena and processes.

This Special Issue of Molecules aims to publish original, high-quality research papers covering the most recent advances, as well as comprehensive reviews addressing state-of-the-art topics in the field of synthesis methods and applications of noble metal nanoparticles.

Topics to be covered by this Special Issue include but are not limited to the following:

  • Design and synthesis of noble metal nanoparticles with controlled morphology and surface charge;
  • Growth mechanisms of shape-controlled and hollow noble metal nanoparticles;
  • Functionalization of noble metal nanoparticles for biological and medical, sensors and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) applications;
  • New experimental methods and approaches for the determination of reactions and processes occurring on noble metal nanoparticles dispersed in aqueous and organic media during catalytic reactions;
  • Experimental and theoretical analysis of noble metal nanoparticle properties including electrocatalytic, optic, etc. properties;
  • Noble metal nanoparticles for electrocatalysis in fuel cells, in particular these fueled by ethanol;
  • New, innovative areas of noble metal nanoparticle applications;
  • Critical assessments and future directions in research based on the use of noble metal nanoparticles.

In advance, I would like to gratefully acknowledge the authors and reviewers who will participate in the elaboration of this Special Issue and will thus contribute to the development of research based on the synthesis methods and applications of noble metal nanoparticles.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
