Dear Colleagues,
The rapid rise in antibiotic resistance poses a serious challenge to global health, driving the search for innovative antibacterial solutions. Nanomaterials have emerged as powerful tools in combating antibiotic-resistant bacteria, offering unique mechanisms to disrupt microbes and prevent infections. Their antibacterial activity arises from diverse processes, including the disruption of bacterial membranes, induction of oxidative stress, interference with biofilm formation, and targeted delivery of therapeutic agents.
This Special Issue highlights recent advances in the development and application of antibacterial nanomaterials, encompassing metal and metal oxide nanoparticles, carbon-based nanostructures, polymeric systems, and hybrid composites. Particular attention is given to their biomedical applications, including wound healing, implant coating, drug delivery platforms, and protective biomaterials. The Issue also addresses critical considerations of toxicity, biocompatibility, and safe clinical translation.

Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
