We are now pleased to announce the upcoming publication of our Special Issue, entitled “Advances in Artificial Intelligence for Medical Image Analysis: 2nd Edition”.
Medical image analysis plays a vital role in diagnosing numerous pathologies, ranging from infectious diseases to cancer, and the field of medical imaging is rabidly being transformed by artificial intelligence (AI), with new AI-powered tools and techniques being developed all the time. These advances are making it possible to detect diseases earlier, more accurately, and more efficiently than ever before.
One of the most promising areas of AI in medical imaging is in the development of deep learning algorithms. Deep learning has powerful capabilities in feature extraction and pattern classification, and it can learn from datasets. This makes it well-suited for tasks such as image classification, object detection, and segmentation, which are all important for medical image analysis. Consequently, the processing burden in medical imaging has now shifted from the human to the computer side, thus allowing more researchers to step into this well-regarded and momentous area. These advances are making it possible to improve the quality of care for patients and to save lives.
This Special Issue seeks high-quality research articles or comprehensive reviews with applications in artificial intelligence in medical image analysis.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Life is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
