Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging in Heart Failure and Cardio-Oncology: From Early Detection to Personalized Prognosis

Cardiovascular imaging technologies have rapidly evolved in the past decade, offering powerful tools for the detection of early myocardial damage, to guide treatment, and to predict outcomes in both heart failure and cardio-oncology. In patients with heart failure, advanced imaging techniques such as echocardiographic strain analysis, cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) tissue mapping, and positron emission tomography (PET) provide crucial information for accurate diagnosis, phenotyping, and risk stratification. In the cardio-oncology field, the timely identification of cancer therapy-related cardiac dysfunction is essential to initiate preventive strategies and avoid irreversible cardiac injury.

This Special Issue aims to collect original research, reviews, and meta-analyses exploring the clinical and prognostic impact of advanced cardiovascular imaging in these high-risk populations. We especially welcome contributions addressing the following:

• Early detection of subclinical myocardial dysfunction in heart failure and cardio-oncology.
• Integration of imaging biomarkers and circulating biomarkers for personalized risk stratification.
• Use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in imaging analysis.
• Imaging-based monitoring of treatment response and therapeutic decision-making.
• Emerging imaging modalities and novel biomarkers to predict outcomes.

By bringing together the latest evidence and technological advances, this Special Issue seeks to foster innovative strategies that enhance personalized care in heart failure and cardio-oncology.
