Clinical Advances and New Perspectives in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Schizophrenia
This special issue belongs to the section “Mental Health“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Schizophrenia is a devastating brain disorder that affects about 1% of the general population. With our current management approaches, only a few will attain remission and rarely recover. About 30% of this patient population will develop Treatment-Resistant Schizophrenia or will become ‘Difficult to Treat’ in the course of the illness.
Clinical Advances and New Perspectives in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Schizophrenia will shed light on new initiatives not only in the diagnosis of the illness but will also explore new frontiers in the management of the illness from a Biopsychosocial point of view and explore various treatment approaches in the course of management interventions in the individual living with Schizophrenia. It is time for us to not only complete evidence-informed assessment but also critically re-evaluate our approach to the management of this illness with the intention to individualize the treatment approach. It is pertinent to see how we can perform an ability-based intervention rather than a disability-based intervention. That is, Habilitation rather than just Rehabilitation.
It would be an honor and a privilege to work with you in this forum.
