Psychogerontology: Psychological Insights into Aging

Dear Colleagues,
The population of older people is increasing rapidly around the world. This phenomenon has become one of the most significant social transformations of the twenty-first century, requiring adaptations to how societies are structured in all sectors. In this context, understanding late adulthood and aging processes has become a major priority of current scientific research, with the clinical and psychological aspects of the psychogerontology field becoming increasingly relevant as populations age.
This Special Issue aims to publish articles that significantly advance knowledge in the clinical and research aspects of the psychogerontology field, with a special interest in research that addresses the clinical, cognitive, psychological, behavioral, and sociocultural aspects of the aging process, as well as psychological development and change throughout adulthood and old age in diverse contexts.
Topics that will be of interest to this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Adult development and aging;
- Behavioral, psychological, and sociocultural aspects of aging;
- Psychological perspectives on aging processes;
- Adjustment to aging-related stresses;
- Emotion, personality, motivation, and self-regulation in later life;
- Clinical aspects of aging and mental health;
- Clinical psychopathology in old age;
- Clinical and behavioral aspects of neurocognitive disorders;
- Quality of life, well-being, and spirituality in older adults;
- Family and caregiving demand, with a special focus on mental health outcomes;
- Clinical psychogerontology assessment and interventions.
Authors are invited to submit original research, reviews, and clinical trials that align with the themes of this Special Issue, represent direct relevance to daily clinical practice, and are up-to-date on the latest developments. Various methodologies are welcomed, including quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, and reviews.

Manuscript Submission Information

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Journal of Clinical Medicine is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
