Pathophysiology and Treatment of Hypertension: Current Challenges and Future Perspectives
This special issue belongs to the section "Acquired Cardiovascular Disease".
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Hypertension is a leading cardiovascular disorder and a major risk factor for the development and progression of cardiovascular disease, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, stroke, and vascular and heart remodeling. Although significant progress has been made in understanding its underlying mechanisms and developing effective therapies, the prevalence of uncontrolled hypertension remains high, highlighting persistent gaps in knowledge and clinical practice. This Special Issue, “Pathophysiology and Treatment of Hypertension: Current Challenges and Future Perspectives”, aims to present current advances and emerging new concepts in hypertension research, spanning basic, translational, and clinical studies, as well as therapeutic strategies related to hypertension. This Special Issue invites original research articles and reviews that explore the molecular, cellular, and systemic pathophysiology underlying hypertension, including vascular dysfunction, neurohormonal regulation, inflammation, metabolic abnormalities, and genetic and epigenetic contributions.
In addition, this Special Issue seeks to highlight recent developments and ongoing challenges in the treatment and management of hypertension. Topics of interest include pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, combination therapies, personalized and precision medicine approaches, and strategies to improve blood pressure control and cardiovascular outcomes. By integrating mechanistic insights with clinical evidence, this Special Issue aims to advance understanding and inform future directions in hypertension research and care.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the Special Issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
