Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue will feature advances at the frontier of theoretical economics and their implications for applied analysis. Economic theory continues to evolve in response to new methodological tools and pressing global challenges. Alongside foundational work in equilibrium, mechanism design, and dynamic games, recent progress has incorporated computational modeling, network theory, non-equilibrium dynamics, and interdisciplinary perspectives from fields such as computer science and cognitive science.
This Special Issue will bring together research that expands the methodological and conceptual boundaries of economic theory while maintaining analytical rigor. We encourage contributions that either advance the core theoretical framework of economics or utilize these frameworks to generate new insights into substantive economic questions. We particularly encourage submissions related to the interplay across micro- and macroeconomics and finance.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Foundations of microeconomic theory—equilibrium existence, uniqueness, stability, and aggregation;
- Mechanism design, contract theory, and dynamic games under incomplete information;
- Market design;
- General equilibrium and welfare theory with heterogeneous and boundedly rational agents;
- Non-equilibrium and complex systems;
- Agent-based computational economics and algorithmic game theory;
- Network theory and mesoeconomic structures;
- Behavioral and neuroeconomic foundations of choice;
- Evolutionary models of economic adaptation;
- AI, machine learning, and computational socioeconomics for theoretical modeling.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Games is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
