Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Large-scale tree improvement programs started in the mid of 20th century, and improved forest regeneration material has become an essential part of practical forestry in many countries around the world. Further, tree improvement has produced impressive results, both in increased volume production as well as in better timber quality. Compared to the vast literature showing these advances of tree breeding in physical terms, there is, however, a considerably smaller number of papers tackling the economics of tree breeding. Thus, there is a need for papers investigating the economic premises underlying tree breeding activities. Particularly, financial incentives associated with better timber quality (due to tree improvement) are of interest. This Special Issue of Forests, entitled “Economics of Tree Breeding and Management to Improve Timber Quality”, invites authors to submit manuscripts dealing with financial or economic analyses on tree breeding and management contributing timber quality, regardless of the tree species and geographic location.
