Digitization of Mechatronic Systems Using Modern Information and Communication Technologies

Dear Colleagues,

Industry involves a significant portion of human economic activity. So far, the latest milestone in technological development has been identified as the Fourth Industrial Revolution (or Industry 4.0); it is based on the integration of modern digital technologies at all levels of production and business management processes. The rapid development of industry and technology constantly brings new challenges that can only be addressed by developing and implementing the latest knowledge from a broad range of technical disciplines: computer systems, machine perception systems, intelligent sensors, intelligent human–machine and machine–machine communication, computer vision, machine learning, etc.

In the context of Industry 4.0, mechatronic systems play a key role as a synergetic combination of electronics, mechanics, automation, communication, and information technologies which are integrated into smart technologies.

This Special Issue will accept contributions on innovative research and developments in “Digitization of Mechatronic Systems Using Modern Information and Communication Technologies”. The overall objective is to cover a wide range of disciplines, including modern predictive maintenance, smart technologies, industrial mechatronic systems, and automation and control systems. Emphasis is put on methods and findings aimed at determining development trends in smart industry technologies, as well as the development of promising technologies for the digital transformation of industries.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
