Advances in THz Electronics

Dear Colleagues,

THz electronics is a rapidly evolving field with significant potential to revolutionize various domains by enabling the scalable production of compact devices and systems for high-speed communication, advanced imaging, precise material characterization, and other applications. In recent years, we have witnessed tremendous progress in pushing the boundaries of integrated circuit technologies such as CMOS, InP, GaAs, GaN, and SiGe into THz operation frequencies. Moreover, there has been immense progress in both monolithic and hybrid integrated technologies. Novel electronic devices and techniques have also been introduced for THz generation, detection, and manipulation.

The aim of this Special Issue is to explore the latest advancements and applications in THz electronics, focusing on both theoretical and practical aspects. This Special Issue will cover a wide range of topics, including novel THz devices and systems, new THz packaging techniques, and state-of-the-art THz integrated circuits. This Special Issue will supplement the existing body of research by highlighting the latest technological advancements in THz electronics, providing a comprehensive overview of the current state of the art and future directions, and encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in the field. We invite researchers worldwide from academia and industry to submit high-quality original research articles or review papers.

Submissions can focus on conceptual and applied research, including but not limited to the following topics:

• Integrated circuit technologies for the THz range;
• THz semiconductor devices;
• THz passive and active circuits;
• AI-enabled design and analysis techniques for THz devices/systems;
• Reconfigurable/tunable THz circuits;
• THz packaging techniques;
• Circuit-enabled THz metamaterials and metasurfaces;
• Novel 2D materials for THz electronics;
• THz vacuum electronics devices;
• Novel THz generation/detection based on electronic techniques;
• Emerging THz applications enabled by THz electronics.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
