Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue advances cutting-edge research at the dynamic intersection of wireless technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) computing systems. We seek high-quality contributions that push the boundaries of intelligent wireless systems, addressing novel architectures, algorithms, applications, and cross-domain challenges.

The rapid evolution of wireless communications (e.g., 5G-A/6G, Wi-Fi 7/8, satellite networks) and breakthroughs in AI (e.g., edge intelligence, federated learning, lightweight deep learning) are driving unprecedented synergies. This convergence unlocks transformative capabilities while introducing complex new research questions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Artificial intelligence;
  • Machine learning;
  • Machine learning applications in wireless networking;
  • Quantum machine learning in wireless communication;
  • AI-based security protocols in wireless networks;
  • Cross-layer optimization with AI;
  • Federated edge learning;
  • IoT (Internet of Things) and wireless intelligence;
  • IoT and edge computing;
  • Applications and use cases;
  • Industry insights and case studies;
  • Vehicular networks;
  • Energy-efficient wireless networking;
  • PHY/MAC/routing protocols;
  • Programmable service interfaces;
  • Intelligent wireless sensor networks;
  • Wireless security and privacy;
  • Wireless communication technologies;
  • Radar and sonar networks;
  • Underwater and underground networks;
  • Information processing and data management;
  • Algorithms, systems, and applications of internet of things;
  • Algorithms, systems, and applications of edge computing;
  • Integration of large models in 5G and beyond;
  • Operating system and middleware support.

We cordially invite researchers, engineers, and practitioners worldwide in wireless communications, AI/ML, computing systems, networking, and related fields to submit original, unpublished contributions. Articles should present significant theoretical advances, practical innovations, or impactful case studies.

This Special Issue is organized in conjunction with the 19th International Conference on Wireless Artificial Intelligent Computing Systems and Applications (WASA2025). While we strongly encourage extended submissions from WASA2025, we warmly welcome all original research aligned with the scope above.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
