2008 In November, the inaugural issue was released by the AO CMF Society published by Thieme. Craniomaxillofacial Trauma & Reconstruction was published as a quarterly journal.
2017 In November, the AO CMF society launched social media profiles on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/aocmf) and on Twitter (@AOCMF_official).
2020 Craniomaxillofacial Trauma & Reconstruction was published by Sage from Volume 13, Issue 1 (2020).

2023

In June, Craniomaxillofacial Trauma & Reconstruction received its first Impact Factor of 0.9.

2024

In April, an open call was launched to form a new Editorial Board from 1 January 2025 onwards.
In August, the new Editorial Board was confirmed.
In September, the Associate Editors were selected.

2025

Publication of Craniomaxillofacial Trauma & Reconstruction was transferred to MDPI from Volume 18, Issue 1.
