2014	The inaugural issue was released. Hydrology was published as a quarterly journal.
2018	Hydrology was indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)—Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1). Hydrology was indexed in Scopus (Elsevier), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1). Hydrology launches the Travel Award project to support young researchers in this field.
2019	Hydrology announced the first edition of the Travel awards. Hydrology received its first CiteScore (2018) of 2.02, ranked 80/209 in “Water Science and Technology”.
2020	The American Institute of Hydrology (AIH) became affiliated to Hydrology. Hydrology announced the 2020 Best Paper awards: Dr. George Papaioannou. Hydrology announced the 2019 Outstanding Reviewer awards: Dr. Henrique Momm. Hydrology received its CiteScore (2019) of 3.2, ranked 50/94 in “Water Resource”.
2021	The Japanese Society of Physical Hydrology (JSPH) became affiliated to Hydrology. Hydrology announces the 2021 Travel awards: Dr. Georgia Papacharalampous and Dr. Mattei Alexandra. Hydrology received its CiteScore (2020) of 3.4, ranked 44/145 in “Earth-Surface Processes”. Hydrology publishes its 500th paper. Hydrology established the following sections: Hydrological and Hydrodynamic Processes and Modelling; Surface Waters and Groundwaters; Hydrology–Climate Interactions; Soil and Hydrology; Water Resources and Risk Management; Hydrology and Economics/Human Health; Ecohydrology; Marine Environment and Hydrology Interactions; Hydrological Measurements and Instrumentation; Statistical Hydrology.
2022	Hydrology adopted a monthly publication schedule. Hydrology announced the fourth edition of the Travel awards. Hydrology received its CiteScore (2021) of 3.6, ranked 51/155 in “Earth-Surface Processes”.
2023	Hydrology received its CiteScore (2022) of 4.1, ranked 52/136 in “Earth-Surface Processes”, 52/136 in “Oceanography”, 100/248 in “Water Science and Technology”, 62/120 in “Waste Management and Disposal”. Hydrology received its first Impact Factor (3.2), ranked 44/130 (Q2) in “Water Resources”.
2024	The year 2024 marked the 10th Anniversary of Hydrology. Hydrology received its CiteScore (2023) of 4.9, ranked 40/179 (Q1) in “Earth-Surface Processes”, 42/145 in “Oceanography”, 83/261 in “Water Science and Technology”, and 58/134 in “Waste Management and Disposal”. Hydrology received its 2023 Impact Factor (3.1), ranked 37/127 (Q2) in “Water Resources”.
2025	Hydrology received its CiteScore (2024) of 5.9, ranked 22/150 (Q1) in "Oceanography", 29/183 (Q1) in "Earth-Surface Processes", 62/279 (Q1) in “Water Science and Technology”, and 53/150 in “Waste Management and Disposal”. Hydrology received its 2024 Impact Factor (3.2), ranked 42/131 (Q2) in “Water Resources”.
